Photography Tours

Join us this summer for an incredible Alaska Sailing Charter. We still have space available on our amazing photography workshops.

  • The 9-day Ultimate Sailing Adventure (July 13-21, 2010) will be spectacular – and it’s perfectly timed for the peak of flowers, wildlife, and whales.

  • The 5-day Whales! Trip (July 6-10, 2010) will be customized from day to day, as we follow the transient and resident pods of whales near Auke Bay, Funter Bay, and in Icy Strait.

Humpback Whale

The Inside Passage is home to killer whales, humpback whales, grizzly bears, bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, mountain goats, and flocks of seabirds. Alaska is so incredibly beautiful, you'll think you stepped into a painting. Monumental glaciers are nature's draw, and Alaska's waterways offer more of these glacial giants than anywhere on earth. This is the Alaska you'll experience on each of our sailing charters.

The price of your Alaska vacation is based on the length of the trip, plus the level of accommodations you prefer aboard the Kirsten Anne, and is based upon double occupancy.

Ultimate Sailing: July 13 - July 21 (9 days)

On this amazing photo expedition, we'll experience the beauty of the Inside Passage, and observe spectacular humpback whale behaviors in Icy Strait and Frederick Sound.

On our journey, we'll see charming fishing villages, an incredible array of wildlife, and the breathtaking scenery of the Inside Passage. We'll observe bears, sea lions, and sea otters, as we cruise quietly along the shoreline. We’ll explore the muskeg and rainforest of Tongass National Forest, and the dramatic tidewater glaciers and icebergs of Endicott Arm, and LeConte Glacier Bay.

Highlights: Nine days sailing the Inside Passage and Outer Coast, kayaking among the icebergs, observing bears and whales, photography, tidewater glaciers, fantastic scenery, hiking through true wilderness.

Whales!: July 6 - July 10 (5 days)

We’ll be observing and photographing the productive humpback whale feeding areas near Auke Bay, Shelter Island, and Admiralty Island, and at Icy Strait and Pt. Adolphus, on the northern coast of Chichagof Island. We also hope to see and photograph orcas, sea lions, sea otters, harbor porpoises, harbor seals, dall's porpoises, brown and black bears, eagles, and some of the numerous shore birds which inhabit the rainforest and coastal areas of Southeast Alaska

The fascinating geology, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking scenery of the Inside Passage are the setting for an unforgettable photography workshop. Majestic mountains, whales, bears, eagles, shore birds, marine mammals, alpine wildflowers, and colonizing plant communities await us on this special tour.

Highlights: Five days sailing the Inside Passage, observing bears and whales, photography, fantastic scenery, hiking through true wilderness.
